Obituaries

Knowles, Debbra Sarah passed away on November 14th, 2008 at the High River Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.  Debbra was a loving wife to John Knowles, mother to Sara and Jackson Knowles and a daughter to Jarvis W. Tucker and Bette Ann McIntyre.  She was an inspiration to all whose paths she crossed.  From the time of her birth in south western New Brunswick on February 14th, 1961 until her defiant premature death in High River, Alberta, Debbra lived a life of honoring, respecting and loving all that life offered including life itself.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the High River Salvation Army Christmas Fund.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the High River Full Gospel Tabernacle.  Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Homes (High River) 403-652-2222.

Korthuis, John   After a brief illness, on October 13th, 2008 at the age of 77 years John Korthuis, husband/father/Opa/Great Opa/brother left us to be with God.   He was born in Holland moving to Canada in 1953.  John was passionate about life and loved his family deeply.   John is survived by Fenny, the bride of his youth, the love of his life, his wife of 57 years.  They were undeniably linked from the time of their teens until John’s passing.  John was predeceased by his son, Peter (May 2007), parents, Henry and Geertje Korthuis, brother, Harry (Barbara deceased), sister, Siep (Peter deceased) and grandson, Gordon (January 2008). Dad left behind sons Henry (Betty) of Okotoks,  John (Lisa) of Saskatoon, daughter Gerry Samson (Wayne) of Lantzville, B.C. and daughter-in-law Bonnie(Peter).  Opa left behind granddaughters, Genni and Camryn, grandsons, Trevor (Tammy), Aaron (Lindsay), Tim (Tanya), Skyler, Matt (Marrisa), Mark (Erin), Riley, Shane and Cole.  Great Opa left behind great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew, Laura, Amber, Isabella, Savannah, Karlie, Breanna and Jude.  Also, surviving John were his brothers Lloyd (Grace predeceased), Bob (Wilma), Andy (Gerda) and Jannus (Anita).  Also mourning John will be numerous other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada  A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 18th, 2008 at the Evangelical Free Church in Okotoks.

Little, Eluned (Lynn) of Nanton, Alberta passed away on November 9th, 2008 at the High River Hospital.  Lynn was born on August 19th, 1932 in Northamptonshire, England.  She was raised in the United Kingdom and trained at St. Bartholomews, to become a nurse.  At a young age, with other nursing friends Lynn immigrated to Canada to pursue her nursing career.  Her nursing travels took her to various communities in Alberta, culminating with settling in the High River and Nanton communities.  She will always be remembered by those for whom she provided nursing care, as well as for the care and attention she provided over the years to her many pets.  Lynn is survived by her sister Margaret Dunn and her family.  She will also be dearly remembered by the families of Dr. Andrew Little of Nanton, Alberta, as well as Charles R. Arnold of High River, Alberta upon whom she had a profound impact.  Lynn was predeceased by her husband Andrew.  Lynn requested to be cremated without a memorial service.  Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so to the charity of their choice.  Arrangements in care of Snodgrass Funeral Homes (High River) 403-652-2222.
