Candle Lighting

It is the goal of Snodgrass Funeral Homes to assist our families during the holiday season knowing that it can be a difficult time following the loss of a loved one.  There are many private and group support services available locally to help at this time.  You may contact any of the services that we have listed or contact one of our funeral homes for a recommendation as to which would serve you best.


History of the CCLS
In December 1988, Snodgrass Funeral Homes began a tradition: 
The Christmas Candle Lighting Service.

Snodgrass Funeral Homes goal is not only to recognize the special needs of families they serve throughout the year, but are honored to be able to provide families with the Candle Lighting Service each December.

It is acknowledged that Christmas is one of the most difficult times for people when dealing with the loss of a loved family member.  With this in mind, Snodgrass Funeral Homes, assisted by both the High River and Okotoks Ministerial Associations, work together to present a memorial service which brings comfort and gives strength to grieving families.

Each year, the names of those who passed on are called and a candle is lit in their remembrance.  The response to the Candle Lighting Service has been overwhelming, and each year many of those who attended the service call to give their positive response.
